Air Injection System: Description
Air injection system is designed to improve emissions performance by supplying fresh air from air cleaner to the exhaust manifold through the air suction valve. See Fig 1 .
When air suction control solenoid valve is activated, manifold vacuum raises the diaphragm valve of the air suction valve. Fresh air from air cleaner is induced to exhaust manifold through reed valve of the air suction valve by pulsation of exhaust gas. Activation of air suction control valve is delayed 10-60 seconds after starting, depending on coolant temperature.
