Code 17: Vehicle Speed PULSER: Coupe
- Operate cruise control. If cruise control does not function properly, repair cruise control prior to proceeding with test. If cruise control functions properly, go to next step.
- Connect system checker harness between ECU and connector. Disconnect "B" connector from right side wire harness. Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, check voltage between terminal No. B11 (+) and No. A18 (-). Voltage should be approximately 5 volts.
- If within specifications, go to next step. If not within specifications, replace ECU with one known good and recheck. If fault does not exists, replace original ECU.
- If voltage exists, turn ignition off. Reconnect "B" connector to right side wire harness. Block rear wheels and set parking brake. Raise front of car and support with stands. Turn ignition on. Slowly rotate left front wheel and measure voltage between terminal No. B11 (+) and No. A18 (-).
- If voltage pulses from 0-5 volts, go to next step. If no voltage pulse exists, repair open or short in Yellow/Red wire between ECU terminal No. B16 and speed pulsar.
- If voltage pulses check if voltage holds at zero volt and at 5 volts. If voltage holds at 5 volts, repair open in Yellow/Red wire between ECU terminal No. B11 and speed pulsar. Replace speed pulsar.
- If voltage holds at zero volt, disconnect connectors from right side wire harness only, not ECU. Measure voltage between terminals No. B11 (+) and No. A18 (-). If approximately 5 volts exists, repair short in Yellow/Red wire between ECU terminal No. B11 and speed pulsar. Replace speed pulsar.
- If approximately 5 volts did not exist in step 7), replace ECU with one known good and recheck. If fault does not exist, replace original ECU.
