Ignition Control Solenoid Valve - (INTEGRA)

  1. Start engine and warm to operating temperature. Disconnect number 12 vacuum hose from intake manifold and check vacuum. See VACUUM DIAGRAMS article. If there is no vacuum, check vacuum port. If there is vacuum, check vacuum hose. If hose is okay, reconnect.
  2. Disconnect 6-pin connector at Emissions Control Box. Attach the positive probe of voltmeter to the Black/Yellow terminal of the connector, and negative probe to the White/Yellow terminal. Check for voltage at idle. If voltage exists, replace the Ignition Control Solenoid Valve and retest. If there is no voltage, attach the positive probe of voltmeter to the Black/Yellow terminal of the connector, and the negative probe to ground. If there is no voltage, replair open in Black/Yellow wire between connector and No. 4 fuse (10 Amp). If there is voltage, check for an open in White/Yellow wire between solenoid valve and ECU. If wire is okay, inspect ECU.
  3. Start engine and warm to operating temperature. Disconnnect 6-pin connector at Emissions Control Box. Attach positive probe of voltmeter to Black/Yellow terminal of connnector and negative probe to the White/Yellow terminal. Rapidly open and release throttle. Check for voltage. Voltage should momentarily go to 0V. If voltage does not go to 0V, check for short in White/Yellow wire between solenoid valve and ECU. If wire is okay, check operation of ECU. If voltage is okay, replace solenoid valve and retest.
