Idle Control System: EACV

  1. Turn engine off, disconnect 2-wire connector on EACV. Measure resistance between the 2 terminals on EACV. Resistance should be 8-15 ohms. If not, replace EACV. Check both terminals for continuity to ground. If continuity is present, replace EACV.
  2. If continuity is NOT present, turn ignition on. Measure voltage between Black/Yellow (positive) and Blue/Yellow (negative) terminals. If battery voltage is NOT present, go to step 3). If battery voltage is present, disconnect connector "A" from ECU. Measure voltage between Black/Yellow and Blue/Yellow wires of EACV 2-wire connector. If battery voltage is NOT present, repair short in Blue/Yellow wire between ECU terminal A11 and EACV. If battery voltage is present, substitute a known good ECU and recheck voltage.
  3. Measure voltage between Black/Yellow wire of EACV and ground. If battery voltage is NOT present, repair open in Black/Yellow wire between EACV connector and no. 24 fuse. If battery voltage is present, connect PGM-FI test harness connector "A" to main wire harness only; DO NOT  connect to ECU. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between terminals A11 (positive) and A2 (negative). If battery voltage is NOT present, repair open in Blue/Yellow wire between ECU terminal A11 and EACV.
  4. If battery voltage is present, connect and disconnect jumper wire between terminals A11 and A2. If EACV does not click, replace EACV. If EACV clicks, substitute a known good EACV and recheck symptom.
