Code 10: Air Temperature (Ta) Sensor
NOTE:
For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
article. For vacuum diagrams, see VACUUM DIAGRAMS
article.
- Turn ignition off. Remove hazard fuse at battery positive terminal for 10 seconds to reset ECU. Start engine and observe CHECK ENGINE and LED lights. If lights are off, problem is intermittent. Check for poor or loose connections at TA sensor, round connector C318 at left shock tower. Test drive vehicle and check again.
- If CHECK ENGINE light is on and LED indicates Code 10, turn ignition off. Disconnect 2-pin connector from TA sensor. Measure resistance across sensor terminals. If reading is not 1000-4000 ohms, replace TA sensor. If resistance is as specified, turn ignition on. Measure voltage between Red/Yellow wire terminal and ground.
- If voltage is about 5 volts, go to step 4). If voltage is not about 5 volts, repair open or short in Red/Yellow between TA sensor and ECU terminal C5. If wire is okay, substitute a known good ECU. If condition goes away, replace original ECU.
- Measure voltage between Red/Yellow (positive) and Green (negative) wire terminals. If voltage is not about 5 volts, repair open in Green wire between ECU terminal C12 and TA sensor. If voltage is about 5 volts, substitute with a known good ECU. If condition goes away, replace original ECU.
