Shift Lever Position Switch: Vigor

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove transmission undercover. From under vehicle, disconnect shift lever position switch 14-pin connector.
  2. Using a DVOM, check for continuity between shift lever position switch 14-pin connector terminal No. 11 and ground with shift lever in "2", "D" and "D4" positions. See Fig 1 . Continuity should be present in each position. If continuity is present, shift lever position switch is functioning properly. If continuity is not present, go to next step.
  3. With DVOM connected to shift lever position switch 14-pin connector terminal No. 11 and ground, move shift lever back and forth slightly without pushing on shift lever button while in "2", "D" and "D4" positions.
  4. Continuity should be present in each position. If continuity is present, shift lever position switch is functioning properly. If continuity is not present, go to next step.
  5. From under vehicle, loosen 2 shift lever position switch bolts. Move shift lever position switch back and forth while trying to achieve continuity readings as specified in steps 2) and 3). If continuity can be achieved as specified in steps 2) and 3), tighten 2 shift lever position switch bolts. If continuity readings cannot be achieved as specified in steps 2) and 3), replace faulty shift lever position switch.
