Solenoid Leak Test: Integra

  1. Turn ignition off. Connect ABS Tester (07HAJ-SG00100) to 6-pin inspection connector. See Figure for connector location. Ensure vehicle is on level ground and automatic transmission is in Park or manual transmission is in Neutral.
  2. Remove modulator reservoir filter. Fill modulator reservoir to MAX level. Bleed high pressure fluid from maintenance bleeder screw. See RELIEVING ACCUMULATOR/LINE PRESSURE  under BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM. Start engine, and release parking brake. Place mode selector to "1" position. Push START TEST button.
  3. While ABS pump is running, place finger over top of solenoid return tube located inside of modulator reservoir. If brake fluid is felt coming from return line, solenoid is leaking. Before replacing suspect solenoid, flush solenoids.
  4. To flush solenoids, remove ABS motor relay (Green connector). See Figure . Install on/off switch between White/Blue and White/Red wires of motor relay connector. Disconnect 3 modulator solenoid connectors.
  5. Connect a remote starter between positive battery terminal and Red wire from one of solenoids. Using jumper wire, connect Black terminal of same solenoid to ground. Relieve accumulator pressure. See RELIEVING ACCUMULATOR/LINE PRESSURE  .
  6. Press on/off switch to run pump. After pump has run for 5 seconds, press and release remote starter button 3-4 times to open and close solenoid. After pump has run for about 30 seconds, press on/off switch to stop pump. Open and close solenoid another 3-4 times.
  7. Repeat steps 5) and 6) for remaining 2 solenoids. Reconnect solenoid connectors and pump relay connector. Place mode selector of ABS tester to "1" position. Start engine, and release parking brake. Push START TEST button on ABS tester.
  8. While ABS pump is running, place finger over top of solenoid return tube located inside of modulator reservoir. If solenoid leakage has stopped, refill modulator reservoir to MAX level. No further testing is required. If solenoid is still leaking, replace solenoid. See SOLENOID under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  .
