  1. Remove rear seat. Remove fuel pump access cover. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect 3-pin connector from fuel gauge sending unit. Connect voltmeter positive lead to terminal "A" (Yellow/White wire) and negative voltmeter lead to terminal "B" (Black wire).
  2. Turn ignition on. Voltmeter should indicate 5-8 volts. If voltmeter indicates 5-8 volts, go to step 3). If voltmeter indicates no voltage, check for blown fuse No. 23 in dash fuse block. Check for open in Yellow, Yellow/White and Black/White wires. Check for poor ground.
  3. Turn ignition off. Connect jumper wire between terminal "A" (Yellow/White wire) and terminal "B" (Black/White wire). Turn ignition on. Gauge needle should start moving toward "F" mark. Turn ignition off within 5 seconds or before gauge needle reaches "F" mark on gauge. Failure to turn ignition off before needle reaches "F" mark may damage fuel gauge.
  4. If wiring is okay but fuel gauge needle does not move, replace fuel gauge. If fuel gauge is okay, test fuel gauge sending unit.
