Brush Holder Test

  1. Ensure continuity does not exist between positive and negative brush holders. If continuity exists, replace brush holder assembly. Install brush into brush holder. Ensure brush contacts commutator.
  2. Attach a spring scale to brush spring. Measure tension of spring as spring lifts off brush. Spring tension should be 3.8-5.3 Lbs. (1.7-2.4 Kg). If spring tension is not within specification, replace brush holder assembly.
