Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch

  1. Remove coolant temperature switch or sensor. On Integra, switch is located on rear of engine cylinder block. On Legend and Vigor, sensor is located on thermostat housing.
  2. Suspend switch and a thermometer in a container partially filled with coolant. Heat coolant while monitoring temperature. Measure sensor resistance or check for continuity at temperatures specified. See COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR/SWITCH SPECIFICATIONS table.
  3. If continuity or resistance is not as specified, replace sensor or switch. If continuity or resistance is as specified, check relay and all related wiring. See TIMER UNIT & FAN CONTROL UNIT.
