Automatic Transmission

  1. EGR lift sensor is part of EGR valve, located on top of engine. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between terminals of Yellow/White wire (positive) and Green/White wire (negative) by backprobing EGR valve lift sensor connector. If voltage is not about 5 volts, repair open in Yellow/White or Green/White wire between ECU and EGR valve.
  2. Measure voltage between Yellow wire (positive) and Green/White wire (negative) by backprobing EGR valve lift sensor 4-wire connector. If voltage is about 1.2 volts, slowly apply 8 in. Hg vacuum to EGR valve. Completely release and reapply vacuum several times. Voltmeter should indicate about 4 volts with vacuum applied. If voltage is not as specified, replace EGR valve.
