Code 14: Electronic Air Control Valve (EACV)
- Turn ignition off. Remove BACK UP fuse from underhood fuse/relay box for 10 seconds to reset ECU. Check ECU for fault codes. See RETRIEVING CODES . If Code 14 is not present, start engine and allow to idle. Disconnect 2-wire connector from EACV. If engine speed is not reduced, replace EACV. If engine speed is reduced, problem is intermittent. Check for poor connections at ECU connector and EACV. Test drive vehicle and retest.
- If Code 14 is present, disconnect 2-wire connector from EACV. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between Yellow/Black wire and body ground. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Yellow/Black wire between EACV and main relay. If battery voltage is present, turn ignition off. Reconnect 2-wire connector.
- Attach "A" connector of ECU Test Harness (07LAJ-PT3010A ) to ECU, leaving vehicle wiring harness disconnected. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using a jumper wire, touch test terminal A9 to test terminal A23 several times. If EACV does not click, repair open circuit in Blue/Yellow wire between EACV and terminal A9 of ECU connector. If EACV clicks, substitute a known good ECU. If symptom/condition goes away, replace original ECU.
