Shift Control Cable

  1. Start engine. Shift to Reverse. Ensure transaxle engages in Reverse. With engine off, remove console. Shift gear selector into NEUTRAL position. Remove lock pin from cable adjuster. Ensure hole in adjuster is perfectly aligned with hole in shift cable. See Fig 1 .
  2. Two holes in end of shift cable are positioned at 90 degrees to allow cable adjustments in 1/4-turn increments. Loosen lock nut on shift cable, and adjust if necessary. See Fig 1 . Tighten lock nut. Install lock pin on adjuster.
  3. Lock pin should not bind as it is installed. If it binds, cable is still out of adjustment. Repeat adjustment procedure. Start engine, and check shift lever selection of all gears.
