EGR Valve Lift Sensor

  1. EGR lift sensor is part of EGR valve, located on top of engine. Connect test harness between EGR valve lift sensor and engine wire harness. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between Red and Green wire terminals. If voltmeter does not indicate approximately 5 volts, repair Yellow/White or Green/White wire between ECU and EGR lift sensor.
  2. Measure voltage between terminals of White wire (positive) and Green wire (negative). If voltage is about 1.2 volts, slowly apply 8 in. Hg vacuum to EGR valve. Completely release and reapply vacuum several times. Voltmeter should indicate about 4 volts with vacuum applied. If voltage is not as specified, replace EGR valve.
