Code 7: Throttle Angle Sensor
- Turn ignition off. Remove fuse No. 15 (ACG) from underdash fuse box for 10 seconds to reset ECU. Check ECU for fault codes. See RETRIEVING CODES . If Code 7 is not present, problem is intermittent. Check for poor and loose connections at throttle angle sensor connector and ECU connector. Test drive vehicle and retest.
- If Code 7 is present, turn ignition off. Disconnect 3-wire connector from throttle angle sensor. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between Yellow/White (+) and Green/White (-) wire terminals. If about 5 volts are not present, go to step 5). If about 5 volts are present, turn ignition off. Reconnect sensor connector. Connect ECU Test Harness (07LAJ-PT3010A ) between ECU and ECU connector. Refer to Figure .
- Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between test terminals D11 (+) and D22 (-). Voltage should be about 0.5 volt at closed throttle and about 4.5 volts at wide open throttle. Transition between lower and upper voltage specifications, as throttle is depressed, should be smooth.
- If voltage is correct, substitute a known good ECU. If symptom/condition goes away, replace original ECU. If voltages are not correct, replace throttle angle sensor or repair open or short in Red/Blue wire between ECU terminal D11 and throttle angle sensor.
- If voltage reading between Yellow/White (+) and Green/White (-) wire terminals in step 2) was not about 5 volts, measure voltage between Yellow/White (+) wire terminal and body ground. If about 5 volts are present, repair open in Green/White wire between ECU terminal D22 and throttle angle sensor. If about 5 volts are not present turn ignition off.
- Connect ECU Test Harness (07LAJ-PT3010A ) between ECU and ECU connector. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between test terminals D20 (+) and D22 (-). If about 5 volts are present, repair open in Yellow/White wire terminal between ECU connector terminal D20 and throttle angle sensor. If about 5 volts are not present, substitute a known good ECU. If symptom/condition goes away, replace original ECU.
