Fuel Pump

WARNING: DO NOT smoke during the test. Keep open flame away from your work area. ALWAYS release fuel pressure before disconnecting any fuel injection-related component. DO NOT allow fuel to contact engine or electrical components.
  1. With the ignition switch turned to OFF position, disconnect the PGM-FI main relay connector.
  2. Connect a jumper wire between main relay connector terminals No. 5 and No. 7 (both Black/Yellow wires). See Fig 1 .
  3. Relieve fuel pressure, then tighten the service bolt.
  4. Disconnect the fuel return hose from the regulator.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to ON for 10 seconds and measure the amount of fuel flow. Amount should be: 11.2 oz. (333 cc) minimum in 10 seconds at 12 volts. See Fig 2 . If fuel flow is less than 11.2 oz. (333 cc), or there is no fuel flow, check for:
    • Clogged fuel filter.
    • Clogged fuel line.
    • Pressure regulator failure.
