Fuel Pump
WARNING:
DO NOT smoke during the test. Keep open flame away from your work area. ALWAYS release fuel pressure before disconnecting any fuel injection-related component. DO NOT allow fuel to contact engine or electrical components.
- With the ignition switch turned to OFF position, disconnect the PGM-FI main relay connector.
- Connect a jumper wire between main relay connector terminals No. 5 and No. 7 (both Black/Yellow wires). See Fig 1 .
- Relieve fuel pressure, then tighten the service bolt.
- Disconnect the fuel return hose from the regulator.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON for 10 seconds and measure the amount of fuel flow. Amount should be: 11.2 oz. (333 cc) minimum in 10 seconds at 12 volts. See Fig 2
. If fuel flow is less than 11.2 oz. (333 cc), or there is no fuel flow, check for:
- Clogged fuel filter.
- Clogged fuel line.
- Pressure regulator failure.
