Shift Lever Position Switch
- Turn ignition off. Shift lever position switch is located on right side of shift lever mechanism. Remove front console. Unplug shift switch 10-pin connector. Ensure shift lever is in "P" position.
- Loosen shift lever position switch mounting bolts. Slowly slide switch while checking for continuity between switch connector terminals No. 6 and 7. See Fig 1
.
- If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, switch is adjusted properly. Tighten switch mounting bolts. Verify vehicle starts with shift lever in "P" position.
- If continuity does not exist, inspect shift lever detent and bracket for damage. If no damage exists, replace faulty shift lever position switch.
