Cruise Control Systems: Description

The cruise control unit receives command signals from cruise control main switch and cruise control SET/RESUME or SET/RESUME/CANCEL switch. It also receives operating signals from brakelight switch, Programmed Fuel Injection Electronic Control Unit (PGM-FI ECU), speed sensor, and clutch switch (M/T) or shift position switch (A/T).

The cruise control unit compares actual vehicle speed to selected speed. A signal from the brakelight switch disengages the system when the brakes are applied. The clutch switch, shift lever position switch, and cancel switch also send disengage signals to the cruise control unit.
