Code 6-1, Front Fail-Safe Relay Circuit
- Remove and test front fail-safe relay. See RELAY TEST under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace relay if it is defective. If relay is okay, disconnect 3-pin connectors from front solenoids. Using a DVOM, check continuity between Brown/Black wire and ground. If no continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short in Brown/Black wire between solenoids and fail-safe relay.
- Check for continuity between Black wire and ground. If continuity exists, replace defective solenoid. If no continuity exists, disconnect 18-pin and 12-pin connectors from control unit. Using a DVOM, check for continuity between control unit connector and each speed sensor. If no continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity exists in any circuit, repair short in suspect wire between solenoid and control unit connector.
- Check for continuity between Yellow/Green wire and ground. If continuity exists, repair short in Yellow/Green wire. If no continuity exists, check for loose control unit connectors. If connectors are okay, install a known good control unit and retest.
