Power Steering Pressure (PSP) Switch Signal
- Connect ECM test harness between ECM and vehicle harness connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ECM terminals B8 (positive) and A26 (negative). See Figure . If voltage is less than one volt, go to step 3.
- If voltage is greater than one volt, unplug 2-wire connector on PSP switch located on power steering pump. Connect jumper between Red and Black wire terminals. If less than one volt is present, replace PSP switch. If voltage is greater than one volt, repair open in Red wire (between ECM terminal B8 and PSP switch) or Black wire and ground connection.
- Start engine. Turn steering wheel slowly. Measure voltage between ECM terminals B8 (positive) and A26 (negative) while wheel is being turned. If battery voltage exists, PSP signal is okay. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Unplug PSP switch connector. If voltage is present, replace PSP switch. If voltage is not present, repair short in Red wire between ECM terminal B8 and PSP switch.
