Code 14: Idle Air Control Valve (IACV)

  1. Turn ignition off. Remove BACK-UP fuse (7.5-amp) from underhood fuse/relay box for 10 seconds to reset ECM. Check ECM for fault codes. If Code 14 is not present, start engine and allow it to idle. Disconnect 2-pin connector from IACV. If engine speed is not reduced, replace IACV. If engine speed is reduced, problem is intermittent. Check for poor connections at ECM, IACV and wiring harness. Test drive vehicle and retest.
  2. If Code 14 is present, disconnect 2-pin connector from IACV. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between Yellow/Black wire and body ground. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Yellow/Black wire between IACV and main relay. If battery voltage is present, turn ignition off. Reconnect 2-pin connector.
  3. Attach connector "A" of ECM Test Harness (07LAJ-PT3010A ) to ECM wiring harness, leaving ECM disconnected. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using a jumper wire, touch test terminal A9 to test terminal A23 several times. If IACV does not click, repair open or short circuit in Blue/Yellow wire between IACV and terminal A9 of ECM connector. If IACV clicks, replace ECM and retest.
