Pump Preload

Measure power steering pump preload with torque wrench after overhauling pump or installing replacement pump. Check preload with pump mounted in a vise. Maximum preload should be 36 INCH lbs. (4 N.m). If preload is higher than specification, disassemble and inspect pump.
