Disassembly & Reassembly

  1. Remove power steering pump from vehicle. See POWER STEERING PUMP  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using Universal Holder (07725-0030000) to hold pump pulley, remove pulley bolt. Pulley bolt has left-hand threads. Remove pump pulley and pump front cover. Remove port fitting and control valve. Control valves are available in 2 sizes. "A" is stamped on control valve "A" for identification. Control valve "B" has no identification mark. Ensure same size control valve is returned to pump on reassembly. Remove "O" ring from control valve. See Fig 1 .
  2. Remove dowel pins and housing seal from pump housing. Remove dowel pins, plunger seal, and "O" ring. Separate port housing from pump housing. Remove housing seal and dowel pins.
  3. Remove dowel pins from pump housing. Remove housing seal and "O" ring from port housing. Remove pump drive and driven gears from housing. Remove plunger seal and plungers.
  4. Pry out oil seal from front pump cover. Clean and inspect all parts, and replace as necessary. To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure. Coat new oil seal with Power Steering Grease (08733-B070E) before assembly. Coat all other parts with power steering fluid. Use a 30-mm socket to install front pump cover seal.
