Disassembly & Reassembly
- Remove pinion dust seal. Remove valve body housing bolts. Remove cap from valve body. See Fig 1
. Remove cap seal from cap. Remove pressure control valve and spring from valve body. Inspect pressure control valve for wear or damage. Replace valve as necessary.
- Remove gain control valve and spring from valve body. Inspect gain control valve for wear or damage. Replace as necessary. Separate valve body and port housing. Remove port seal and dowel from port housing. Remove rollers from control valve by pushing valve out one side and then the other.
- Remove plungers, return springs, and control valve from valve body.
- Inspect plungers and control valve for wear or damage. Using a 1/16" (1.5 mm) drill bit, remove sensor orifice and "O" ring. If valve body is damaged, replace it as an assembly. Inspect all parts for wear or damage, and replace as necessary. To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure. Coat all parts with Power Steering Grease (08733-B070E) before assembly.
