Code 7: Throttle Position Sensor
- Turn ignition off. Remove ACG fuse (No. 15, 7.5-amp) from underdash fuse box for 10 seconds to reset ECM. Check ECM for fault codes. If Code 7 is not present, problem is intermittent. Check for poor and loose connections at throttle position sensor, right shock tower harness connector and ECM connectors. Test drive vehicle and retest.
- If Code 7 is present, turn ignition off. Disconnect 3-pin connector from throttle position sensor. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between Yellow/White (+) and Green/White (-) wire terminals. If voltage is not about 5 volts, go to step 5. If about 5 volts are present, turn ignition off. Reconnect sensor connector. Connect ECM Test Harness (07LAJ-PT3010A ) between ECM and ECM connectors. See Figure .
- Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between test terminals D11 (+) and D22 (-). Voltage should be about 0.5 volt at closed throttle and about 4.5 volts at wide open throttle. Transition from 0.5 to 4.5 volts (as throttle is opened) should be smooth.
- If voltage is correct, replace ECM and retest. If voltages are not correct, replace throttle position sensor or repair open or short in Red/Blue wire between ECM terminal D11 and throttle position sensor.
- If voltage between Yellow/White (+) and Green/White (-) wire terminals in step 2 was not about 5 volts, measure voltage between Yellow/White (+) wire terminal and body ground. If voltage is about 5 volts, repair open in Green/White wire between ECM terminal D22 and throttle position sensor. If voltage is not about 5 volts, turn ignition off.
- Connect ECM Test Harness (07LAJ-PT3010A ) between ECM and ECM connectors. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between test terminals D20 (+) and D22 (-). If voltage is about 5 volts, repair open in Yellow/White wire terminal between ECM connector terminal D20 and throttle position sensor. If voltage is not about 5 volts, replace ECM and retest.
