Retrieving Codes

Before starting tests, ensure engine is in good mechanical condition and adjusted to specifications.

MIL may come on indicating a hard or intermittent failure. Locate 2-pin self-diagnostic connector behind glove box. See Fig 1 or Figure. Connect diagnostic connector terminals using Short Connector (07 PAZ-0010100 ). Turn ignition on. Observe MIL. Light indicates a system trouble code by number of blinks.
Single-digit trouble codes (1-9) are indicated by individual short blinks. Double-digit trouble codes (10-59) are indicated by a series of long and short blinks: number of long blinks equal first digit; number of short blinks equal second digit. See TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION table. If codes other than those listed are indicated, substitute a known good ECM and recheck.
