Code 15: Ignition Output Signal
- Turn ignition off. Remove BACK-UP fuse (7.5-amp) from underhood fuse/relay box for 10 seconds to reset ECM. Check ECM for fault codes. If Code 15 is not present, problem is intermittent. Check for poor connections at ECM, ignitor unit and wiring harness connections. Test drive vehicle and retest.
- If Code 15 is present, turn ignition off. Disconnect 2-pin connector from distributor. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between Black/Yellow wire and body ground. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Black/Yellow wire between ignition switch and distributor 2-pin connector. If battery voltage is present, proceed to step 3).
- Turn ignition off. Reconnect 2-pin connector to distributor. Connect ECM Test Harness (07LAJ-PT3010A
) between ECM and ECM connectors. See Figure. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between test terminal A26 (-) and test terminal A21 (+).NOTE: A short in Yellow/Green wire between ignitor unit and ECM may damage ignitor unit. Recheck ignitor unit.
- If voltage is not about 10 volts, check for open or short in Yellow/Green wire between ignitor unit and ECM terminal A21. If wire is okay, replace ignitor. If about 10 volts are present, replace ECM and retest.
