Power Steering Pressure (PSP) Switch Signal

  1. Connect ECM test harness between ECM and vehicle harness connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ECM terminals B12 (positive) and A26 (negative). See Figure . If voltage is less than one volt, go to step 3).
  2. If voltage is greater than one volt, unplug 2-wire connector on PSP switch located on power steering pump. Connect jumper between Green and Black wire terminals. If less than one volt exists, replace PSP switch. If voltage is greater than one volt, repair open in Green wire (between ECM terminal B12 and PSP switch) or Black wire and ground connection.
  3. Start engine. Turn steering wheel slowly. Measure voltage between ECM terminals B12 (positive) and A26 (negative) while wheel is being turned. If battery voltage exists, PSP signal is okay. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Unplug PSP switch connector. Measure voltage between ECM terminals B12 (positive) and A26 (negative). If voltage exists, replace PSP switch. If voltage does not exist, repair short in Green wire between ECM terminal B12 and PSP switch.
