Code P1660 - A/T FI Data Line

  1. Connect and operate scan tester, following manufacturer's instructions. Clear codes. Turn ignition off. Retrieve codes. Start and idle engine for at least one minute. If Code P1660 appears, go to next step. If Code 1660 does not appear, problem is intermittent. Inspect for poor connections or loose wires associated with TCM and ECM, then repair as necessary.
  2. Turn ignition off. Test for continuity between ECM 26-pin connector terminal No. 20 (Blue wire) and ECM 22-pin connector terminal No. 2 (Blue wire). If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair Blue wire.
  3. Unplug ECM 22-pin and 26-pin connectors. Test for continuity between 26-pin connector terminal No. 2 (Blue wire) and ground. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair shorted Blue wire.
  4. Test for battery voltage between ECM 26-pin connector pins No. 12 (Black/Yellow wire) and 13 (Brown/Black wire), and between pins No. 25 (Black/Yellow wire) and 26 (Brown/Black wire). If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short in appropriate Black/Yellow or Brown/Black wire.
  5. Temporarily substitute known good TCM. If Code P1660 still appears, temporarily substitute known good ECM, then retest system.
