Code 6: Front & Rear Fail-Safe Relays
- Start engine. If ABS light does not go off, go to next step. If light goes off, system is okay at this time. Check for damaged wire harness between ABS control unit, solenoids and fail-safe relays.
- Check for ABS trouble codes. If Code 6 is not set, perform appropriate trouble code test. If Code 6 is set, turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS control unit 22-pin connector. Start engine. Measure voltage between Yellow/Green wire terminal of 22-pin connector and ground.
- If battery voltage exists, Yellow/Green wire between ABS control unit and fail-safe relays is shorted to power. If battery voltage does not exist, turn ignition off. Reconnect ABS control unit 22-pin connector. Turn ignition on.
- Backprobing connector, measure voltage between Yellow/Green wire terminal of 22-pin connector and ground. If battery voltage exists, replace ABS control unit. If battery voltage does not exist, perform CODE 6-1 and CODE 6-4 tests.
