Code 14 - Idle Air Control Valve (IACV)

  1. Turn ignition off. Remove BACK-UP fuse (7.5-amp) from underhood fuse/relay box for 10 seconds to reset ECM. Retrieve codes. If Code 14 does not appear, start engine and allow it to idle. Unplug 2-pin connector from IACV. If engine speed is not reduced, temporarily substitute known good IACV, then retest system. If engine speed is reduced, problem is intermittent. Inspect for poor connections at ECM, IACV, and wiring harness. Test-drive vehicle and retest.
  2. If Code 14 appears, Unplug 2-pin connector from IACV. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between Yellow/Black wire and body ground. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Yellow/Black wire between IACV and main relay. If battery voltage exists, turn ignition off. Reconnect wiring to IACV.
  3. Attach connector "A" of ECM Test Harness (07LAJ-PT3010A ) to ECM wiring harness, leaving ECM disconnected. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using a jumper wire, touch test terminal A9 to test terminal A23 several times. If IACV does not click, repair Blue/Yellow wire between IACV and terminal A9 of ECM connector. If IACV clicks, temporarily substitute known good ECM, then retest system.
