TCS Light Does Not Go Off
- Turn ignition on. If TCS switch indicator and TCS activation lights stay off, see TCS LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON . If lights stay on longer than 2 seconds, start engine.
- If engine Malfunction Indication Light (MIL) comes on, perform self-diagnostic procedure in the TESTS W/CODES
article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. Ensure engine Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) 35 and 36 are not present.NOTE: DTC 35 indicates a circuit problem in Gray/Yellow wire between terminal 14B of 16-pin connector at TCS control unit and PCM. DTC 36 indicates a circuit problem in Gray/Blue wire between terminal 19A of 26-pin connector at TCS control unit and PCM.
- If DTC 35 and/or 36 are present, perform tests to correct circuit problems. See the TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. If there is no DTC, start engine.
- Measure voltage between terminal 9B of 16-pin TCS control unit connector and ground. If less than 2 volts is present, go to step 6). If more than 2 volts is present, turn ignition off. Disconnect 16-pin and 26-pin connectors from TCS control unit.
- Turn ignition on. If TCS indicator light is on, repair short in Blue/Red wire between TCS control unit and gauge assembly. If TCS indicator light is off, replace TCS control unit and recheck system.
- Turn ignition off. Connect Test Harness (07LAJ-PT3010A) to PCM. Start engine. Measure voltage between terminal C6 of test harness and ground. If more than 2 volts is present, repair open in Gray/Black wire between TCS control unit and PCM.
- If less than 2 volts is present, turn ignition off. Disconnect 12-pin PCM connector and 16-pin TCS control unit connector. Check for continuity between terminal 9B of 16-pin TCS control unit connector and ground.
- If continuity is present, repair open in Gray/Black wire between TCS control unit and PCM. If continuity is not present, reconnect 16-pin TCS control unit connector.
- Measure resistance between terminals 9B and 5B of 16-pin TCS control unit connector. Also measure resistance between terminal 9B of 16-pin and terminal 20A of 26-pin TCS control unit connectors.
- If resistance is zero (or almost zero), replace TCS control unit. If resistance is not zero (or almost zero), check for poor electrical connections. If no problems are found, replace PCM and recheck system.
