Self Diagnostic System: Notes
NOTE:
Manufacturer recommends that prior to replacing Driving Position Memory System (DPMS) control unit for any failure uncovered in trouble shooting, it should be reset. See Acura Service News bulletin No. ASN 0195-05: RESET DPMS UNIT BEFORE REPLACING IT
in TSBs. To reset the module, remove No. 15 fuse from underhood fuse box for at least 30 seconds.
Driving Position Memory System (DPMS) control unit includes self-diagnostics, which records up to 5 circuit-related problems. Diagnostic trouble codes may be retrieved from DPMS to aid in troubleshooting. Memory switch is used to display any stored trouble codes. Trouble shoot DPMS in specific order only as follows:
- Check power and ground circuits See Fig 1 and Fig 2 .
- Perform automatic adjustment mode operations. See AUTOMATIC ADJUSTMENT MODES .
- Locate appropriate flow chart based on symptom. See SYMPTOM TROUBLE SHOOTING table. See FLOW CHARTS .
- Retrieve trouble codes and perform test steps in appropriate flow chart(s). See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES .
- Test components and replace as necessary. See COMPONENT TESTS and REMOVAL & INSTALLATION .
NOTE:
Make all voltage checks with connectors attached. Make all continuity checks with connectors disconnected. Use care when backprobing to prevent electrical shorts or damage to insulation and terminals. All connectors are shown from the wire side. Control units use the following abbreviations. Driving Position Memory System (DPMS), Power Seat (PS) control unit and Steering Column (SC) control unit.
