Power Steering Pressure (PSP) Switch Signal

  1. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between PCM terminals B12 (positive) and A26 (negative). See Figure . If voltage is less than one volt, go to step 3). If voltage is greater than one volt, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Unplug 2-wire connector on PSP switch located on pressure hose. Connect jumper between PSP switch harness connector terminals. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between PCM harness connector terminals A26 and B12. If less than one volt exists, replace PSP switch. If voltage is greater than one volt, repair open in Green wire (between PCM terminal B12 and PSP switch), or Black wire and ground connection.
  3. Reconnect PSP switch. Start engine. Turn steering wheel slowly. Measure voltage between PCM terminals B12 (positive) and A26 (negative) while steering wheel is being turned. If battery voltage exists, PSP signal is okay. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Unplug PSP switch connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between PCM terminals B12 (positive) and A26 (negative). If voltage exists, replace PSP switch. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM connector "B". Check continuity between ground and PCM harness connector terminal B12. If continuity exists, repair shorted Green wire between PCM terminal B12 and PSP switch. If continuity does not exist, substitute a known-good PCM and recheck for symptom.
