DTC P0116: ECT Sensor Range/Performance
NOTE:
If DTCs P0117 and/or P0118 also exist, service them first.
- Connect and operate scan tester, following manufacturer's instructions. Start and run engine at 3000 RPM until fan comes on, then allow it to idle. Read ECT sensor data. If indicated coolant temperature is not 176-221°F (80-105°C), go to next step. If indicated coolant temperature is 176-221°F (80-105°C), problem is intermittent. Inspect for poor connections or loose wires at ECT sensor and PCM, then repair as necessary.
- Inspect cooling system. Repair as necessary. If cooling system is okay, replace ECT sensor.
