Abs Modulator Function Test
NOTE:
This test ensures basic brake system operates normally when ABS modulator unit high-pressure side is low.
- Relieve system pressure. See RELIEVING ACCUMULATOR/LINE PRESSURE . Raise and support vehicle. Firmly depress brake pedal. If wheels cannot be rotated, go to next step. If wheels can be rotated, replace ABS modulator unit.
- Start engine to operate ABS pump motor. Keep brake fluid reservoir full. If brake fluid reservoir empties, bleed high-pressure brake fluid. See ACCUMULATOR , MODULATOR & ABS PUMP (POWER UNIT) BLEEDING. If ABS pump motor operates for approximately 40 seconds, ABS indicator light will come on and ABS pump motor will stop. Turn engine off and restart engine to operate ABS pump motor again.
- If ABS indicator light comes on, remove ABS B2 fuse (15-amp) for at least 3 seconds to erase DTC after servicing. When ABS pump motor stops, refill brake fluid reservoir. Verify ABS indicator light stays off.
