Cranking Test

  1. Following manufacturer's instructions, connect starter system tester to battery and perform starter cranking test. If starter tester is not available, connect a voltmeter and ammeter to battery. See Fig 1 . Disconnect fuse No. 33 (15-amp) from underhood fuse/relay box.
  2. Use remote starter switch to crank engine. Check cranking voltage and current draw. Ensure voltage is at least 8 volts. Current draw should be less than 350 amps. Cranking speed should be greater than 100 RPM.
