Shift Lock Solenoid: Honda

  1. Remove center console. Disconnect shift lock solenoid harness connector. Note connector terminals and wire colors. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
    CAUTION: Battery voltage must be applied to correct shift lock solenoid terminal or diode inside shift lock solenoid will be damaged.
  2. On Accord (1997) and Civic Del Sol, connect positive battery voltage to shift lock solenoid terminal "A" (Yellow wire) and momentarily connect solenoid terminal "B" (Green or Yellow/Black wire) to ground. On Accord (1998), Civic, CR-V, Odyssey and Prelude, connect positive battery voltage to shift lock solenoid terminal No. 1 (Yellow or Yellow/Red wire) and momentarily connect solenoid terminal No. 2 (Yellow/Black, Green/Yellow or Green wire) to ground. On all models, note that shift lock releases when release lever is pushed and locks when release lever is released. Replace shift lock solenoid if solenoid does not operate properly.
