Ignition Control Module Input Test
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Acura 2.5TL. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect 4-pin connector from ignition control module (ICM), mounted on ignition coil. Check for continuity between terminal No. 4 and ground. See Fig 1. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open Black wire.
- Turn ignition on. Check voltage between terminals No. 3 and 4 at ICM harness connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check for open Black/Yellow wire between coil and ICM. If Black/Yellow wire is not open, substitute known-good ignition coil.
- With ignition on, check for battery voltage between terminal No. 2 and 4 at ICM harness connector. If battery voltage does not exist, check for open Green wire between coil and ICM. Repair as necessary. If Green wire is okay, substitute a known-good ignition coil and recheck.
