Charging System Light
- Perform PRELIMINARY INSPECTION . Turn ignition on. If charging system light comes on, go to step 4). If charging system light does not come on, go to next step.
- Disconnect generator 4-pin harness connector. Connect a fused jumper wire between ground and generator 4-pin harness connector terminal No. 3 (White/Blue wire). See Fig 1. Turn ignition on. If charging system light turns on, go to next step. If charging system light does not turn on, check fuse No. 4 (7.5-amp) in underdash fuse/relay box. Replace fuse if necessary. If fuse is good, check for faulty charging system light bulb and replace as necessary. If bulb is okay, repair open in White/Blue wire.
- Measure voltage at generator 4-pin harness connector terminal No. 1 (Black/Yellow wire). If battery voltage exists, replace generator. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Black/Yellow wire.
- Start engine. Charging system light should turn off. If charging system light remains on, go to next step. If charging system light turns off, test generator control system. See GENERATOR CONTROL SYSTEM TEST .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect generator 4-pin harness connector. Turn ignition on. If charging system light does not come on, go to next step. If charging system light comes on, repair short to power in White/Blue wire.
- Measure voltage at generator 4-pin harness connector terminal No. 1 (Black/Yellow wire). If battery voltage exists, replace generator. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Black/Yellow wire.
