DTC 6-1: A/T Shift Position Signal
- Disconnect PCM 26-pin connector "E" and TCS control unit 20-pin connector. Check for continuity between ground and PCM 26-pin connector "E" terminal No. 6 (Blue/Red wire). See Fig 1
. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short to ground in Blue/Red wire between TCS control unit 20-pin connector terminal No. 5 and PCM 26-pin connector "E" terminal No. 6. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
.
- Reconnect PCM 26-pin connector "E". Ensure transmission is in Park position. Start engine. Measure voltage between ground and PCM 26-pin connector "E" terminal No. 6 (Blue/Red wire). See Fig 1
. Reading should be approximately 4 volts. If reading is as specified, go to next step. If reading is not as specified, check for poor connection to PCM. If connection is okay, replace PCM and retest system.
- Measure voltage between ground and TCS control unit 20-pin connector terminal No. 5 (Blue/Red wire) with transmission in Park position. See Figure
. Reading should be approximately 4 volts. If reading is not as specified, repair open in Blue/Red wire between TCS control unit 20-pin connector terminal No. 5 and PCM 26-pin connector "E" terminal No. 6. If reading is as specified, check for poor connection at TCS control unit. If connection is okay, replace TCS control unit.
