TCS Indicator Light Does Not Come On

  1. Check BACK-UP LIGHTS/METER fuse (10-amp) in underdash fuse/relay block. See Figure . Replace fuse if blown, and retest system. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect gauge assembly 16-pin connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and gauge assembly 16-pin connector terminal No. 9 (Yellow wire). See Fig 1 . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, turn ignition off and check for an open in Yellow wire between gauge assembly connector terminal No. 9 and BACK-UP LIGHTS/METER LIGHTS fuse. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. Repair wire as necessary and retest system. If wire is okay, replace underdash fuse block.
  3. Remove gauge assembly. Check TCS indicator bulb in gauge assembly. Replace bulb if faulty, and retest system. If bulb is okay, go to next step.
  4. Reconnect gauge assembly 16-pin connector. Using a jumper wire, ground terminal No. 8 (Gray/Black wire) of gauge assembly 16-pin connector. See Fig 1 . If TCS indicator light comes on, go to next step. If TCS indicator light does not come on, replace printed circuit in gauge assembly.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect TCS control unit connectors. Turn ignition on. Using a jumper wire, ground TCS control unit 14-pin connector terminal No. 2, or 20-pin connector terminal No. 17 (Gray/Black wires). See Fig 2 or Fig 3 . If TCS indicator light comes on, go to next step. If TCS indicator light does not come on, repair open in Gray/Black wire(s) between gauge assembly and TCS control unit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS.
  6. Reconnect TCS control unit connectors. Using a jumper wire, ground TCS control unit 14-pin connector terminal No. 4, or 20-pin connector terminal No. 15 (Brown/Black wires). See Fig 2 or Fig 3 . If TCS indicator light comes on, repair open between TCS control unit connectors and ground at left front of engine, below and right of upper radiator hose. If TCS indicator light does not come, check for poor connection at TCS control unit. If connection is okay, replace TCS control unit.
