DTC P0106: Manifold Absolute Pressure (Map) Sensor System Vacuum Leak

  1. Perform PCM reset procedure. See PCM RESET PROCEDURE/CLEARING CODES . Start engine and run at 1000 RPM with no loads for one minute with transmission in Park or Neutral. If DTC P0106 resets, go to step 3). If DTC P0106 does not reset, turn ignition off. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check MAP sensor data. If atmospheric pressure is not present, replace MAP sensor. If atmospheric pressure is present, go to next step.
  2. Start engine and run at 3000 RPM with no loads and transmission in Park or Neutral, until radiator cooling fan comes on. Turn ignition off. Restart engine. Using scan tool, check MAP sensor data. If MAP sensor is 12.0 in. Hg (40.0 kPa) or less one second after starting engine, MAP sensor is okay at this time. If MAP sensor is not as specified, replace MAP sensor.
  3. If DTC P0106 resets, check for a vacuum leak between throttle body and MAP sensor. Repair as necessary. If no leaks are found, turn ignition off. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check MAP sensor data. If atmospheric pressure is present, go to next step. If atmospheric pressure is not present, replace MAP sensor.
  4. Start engine and run at 3000 RPM with no loads and transmission in Park or Neutral, until radiator cooling fan comes on. Turn ignition off. Restart engine. Using scan tool, check MAP sensor. If MAP sensor indicates 12.0 in. Hg (40.0 kPa) or less one second after starting engine, substitute a known-good PCM and recheck for symptom. If MAP sensor indication is not as specified, replace MAP sensor.
