Engine Will Not Start
Ensure steps for spark and fuel testing in Basic Diagnostic Procedures in the BASIC TESTING - GS-R article have been performed.
- Check ignition system. See BASIC TESTING - GS-R article.
- Check fuel pressure. See BASIC TESTING - GS-R article.
- Check fuel pump (PGM-FI) relay. See BASIC TESTING - GS-R article.
- Check CKP/TDC/CYP sensor (if equipped). See DTC P0335, P0336, P1336, P1337, P1361, P1362, P1366, P1367, P1381 or P1382 the TESTS W/CODES - GS-R article.
- Check for contaminated fuel.
- Check A/T gear position signal. See procedures in the SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS - GS-R article.
- Test PCM power and ground circuits. See MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT (MIL) in the TESTS W/CODES - GS-R article.
- Other possible causes are engine compression, intake air system leakage, engine locked up, timing belt, starting system, overheating and battery.
