Brake Switch Signal

  1. Check brakelight operation. If brakelights operate properly, go to step 3). If brakelights stay on continuously, check for continuity between brakelight switch terminals "B" and "C". See Fig 1 or Fig 2. Repair or replace switch as necessary. If brakelights do not come on when brake pedal is depressed, check STOP LIGHT, HORN fuse located in underhood fuse/relay box. See FUSE IDENTIFICATION . See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  2. If fuse is okay, repair open in wire between fuse and brakelight switch. If wire is okay, check brakelight switch. If fuse in not okay, repair short in wire between fuse and brakelight switch. Replace STOP LIGHT, HORN fuse.
  3. Depress brake pedal and backprobing, measure voltage between the specified PCM terminals. See BRAKE SIGNAL TESTING . See Figure or Figure. Also, refer to the wiring diagrams in the appropriate WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If battery voltage exists, brake signal is okay. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Green/White or White/Green wire between PCM connector and brake switch.

3.2TL & 3.5RL A26 (BRN/BLK) & E2 (GRN/WHT)
