Charging System Light: 3.0CL
- Perform PRELIMINARY INSPECTION . Turn ignition switch to ON position. If charging system light illuminates, go to step 4. If charging system light does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Disconnect generator 4-pin harness connector. Connect a fused jumper wire between ground and generator 4-pin harness connector terminal No. 3 (White/Blue wire). See Fig 1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If charging system light illuminates, go to next step. If charging system light does not illuminate, check fuse No. 4 (7.5-amp) in underdash fuse/relay box. Replace fuse if necessary. If fuse is okay, check for faulty charging system light bulb. Replace if necessary. If bulb is okay, repair open in White/Blue wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and generator 4-pin harness connector terminal No. 1 (Black/Yellow wire). If battery voltage exists, replace generator. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Black/Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Start engine. Charging system light should turn off. If charging system light remains on, go to next step. If charging system light turns off, go to step 6.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect generator 4-pin harness connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If charging system light does not illuminate, replace generator. See GENERATOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If charging system light illuminates, repair short to power in White/Blue wire.
- Using DVOM, measure voltage between ground and generator 4-pin harness connector terminal No. 1 (Black/Yellow wire). If battery voltage exists, replace generator. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Black/Yellow wire between generator and underdash fuse/relay box.
