DTC P1486: Thermostat Range/Performance Problem

  1. Check if DTC(s) P0107, P0108, P0112, P0113, P0116, P0117, P0118, P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306, P0335, P0336, P0401, P0505, P1106, P1107, P1108, P1128, P1129, P1259, P1279, P1336, P1337, P1491, P1498, P1508 are present. If any DTC(s) are present, diagnose that DTC first. If no DTCs are present, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Check engine coolant level. Add coolant as necessary. If coolant level is okay, turn ignition on. Check radiator fan. If radiator fan does not keep running, check thermostat. If radiator fan keeps running, check radiator fan circuit, radiator fan switch circuit, and radiator fan switch. Repair as necessary. If all components are okay, replace PCM.
