Description & Operation
Side power mirrors are controlled by dual switch located on driver's door panel. The left/right switch directs current to desired mirror. The 4-position switch directs current to one of 2 motors located in the mirror/motor assembly. Some models are equipped with mirror defoggers. See REAR WINDOW & MIRROR DEFOGGERS article.
3.2TL and 3.5RL models are equipped with an inside automatic day/night mirror. The automatic day/night mirror has a front and rear-facing lux (illumination) level sensor and a control unit. The control unit compares the lux levels of front (outside) of vehicle and headlights of the trailing vehicle, and controls the electro-chromic gel of the mirror to dim and reduce glare. The dimming function is turned off automatically when transmission is in reverse, or can be turned off manually with the off button located at bottom of mirror.
