Description & Operation
NOTE:
On 3.2CL and MDX with DPMS power mirrors, also see appropriate DRIVER'S POSITION MEMORY SYSTEMS article.
NOTE:
For 3.5RL inside automatic day/night mirror testing, see INSIDE AUTOMATIC DAY/NIGHT MIRROR under SYSTEM TESTS. For all other 3.5RL power mirror testing information, see DRIVER'S POSITION MEMORY SYSTEMS - 3.5RL article.
WARNING:
Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
CAUTION:
Before disconnecting battery, obtain anti-theft code for radio. After battery is reconnected, the word CODE will appear on radio display. Enter 5-digit anti-theft code using select buttons and radio will begin working. If code is entered wrong 10 times (3 times on MDX), leave radio on at least one hour and enter code correctly. Any time radio power is lost, pre-selected radio stations will have to be set.
Side power mirrors are controlled by dual switch located on driver's door panel. The left/right switch directs current or ground to desired mirror. The 4-position switch directs current or ground to one of 2 motors located in the mirror/motor assembly. Some models are equipped with mirror defoggers. See REAR WINDOW & MIRROR DEFOGGERS article.
3.2CL, 3.2TL, 3.5RL and MDX models are equipped with an inside automatic day/night mirror. The automatic day/night mirror has a front and rear-facing lux (illumination) level sensor and a control unit. The control unit compares the lux levels of front (outside) of vehicle and headlights of the trailing vehicle, and controls the electro-chromic gel of the mirror to dim and reduce glare. The dimming function is turned off automatically when transmission is in reverse, or can be turned off manually with the off button located at bottom of mirror.
