DTC P0133: Primary Heated Oxygen Sensor Slow Response

NOTE: If DTCs P0131, P0132 or P0135 are also stored, troubleshoot these codes first.
  1. Perform PCM reset procedure. See PCM RESET PROCEDURE/CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Start engine and run at 3000 RPM, with no load (in park or neutral) until radiator fan comes on. Go to next step.
  2. Test drive vehicle at a constant 55 MPH, with A/T in "D5" position (D4 position on 3.2TL model) and with M/T in 6th gear until readiness code or temporary DTC P0133 comes on. If temporary DTC P0133 sets, replace Primary Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S-1). If temporary DTC P0133 does not set, problem is intermittent. System is okay at this time. Check for poor connection(s) or loose wire(s) between HO2S-1 harness connector and PCM harness connectors "C" (A/T) and "A" (M/T). See appropriate wiring diagram under ENGINE PERFORMANCE in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
